Preface

In the 20th century, industrialization, urbanization, and modernization of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries rapidly progressed in many parts of the world, transforming people's lifestyles.
Accordingly, various chemical substances have been developed and released into the environment. However, the current status of the environmental impact of these various chemical substances, technological innovations in environmental restoration, and laws and regulations have not kept pace with the current situation. The discovery of antibiotics, for example, was an important breakthrough in 20th century medicine. As a result of their abuse, antibiotic resistance genes [Antibiotic Resistance Gene (ARG)] have emerged, creating new environmental risks. They have been identified as a problem of compound pollution of ecosystems.

In this seminar, we will focus on the interfacial processes and control measure of combined pollutant; current situations, fundamental of adsorption and flocculation, which are responsible for their transportation behavior; and remediation technology [Above figure]. Throughout the four day discussion we will clarify the direction of future development in terms of environmental engineering.
